The first time homebuyer credit applies to purchases completed in 2009. This provision allows for up to $8000 from the Federal government for first time buyer's purchasing prior to November 30, 2009. Many different types of homes qualify, there are specific rules as to whom is considered a first time buyer, and the credit phases out above certain income levels.
